Frequently Asked Questions

1.          “Why does my conveyor continue to turn after I have shut off the conveyor switch on the Mark III processor?”

This can be caused by a couple of things. First check your manual knob, if you can turn it by hand then we can assume that it is not in gear or you have a broken cog belt. Gently push in on the manual knob while rotating it, if it snaps into place and you can no longer turn it then you have probably found the problem. If however it is in gear and you can turn it then you have an internal problem, most likely a broken cog belt. This is just the most common solution and isn’t the only thing that will cause this situation.

2.      “My fans turn but the conveyor wont.”                                                                                             This can be difficult to resolve but I get it all the time. First lets check to see if you are receiving a signal from your radar gun. Go to the digital readout speedometer on your processor, it should read mph when the unit is moving. Check your manual knob as described in question #1. If you are still experiencing a problem, start the unit and try to run the conveyor with the processor in manual mode, if the conveyor doesn’t run then the problem is internal.

3.         “My oil gets very hot.”

Look at the sight gauge on the oil reservoir; if any foaming is present then you have contaminated oil. Highway Equipment Company recommends 15W40 motor oil instead of hydraulic oil. If you bought your spreader at Fisher Spreader Sales it was delivered with 15W40, hydraulic oil will not mix with the 15W40. Overheating can also be caused by a bad hydraulic motor or pump. Please contact us for more details on how to determine the problem. 217-226-3522
